5D Success Formula for Radiology Case discussions
Every topper has systematic method—here’s yours:
1. Detection – First develop ability to detect the lesion. (Practice Spotters from RadioFocus, theradiologisteye)
2. Description – Present it in a planned manner. Site, Size, Shape, Margin, Density, contrast enhancement pattern, surrounding tissues, similar lesions. Cover all aspects of description using standard Radiology terms ONLY
3. Differentials – Consider complete differential range (CITMAN)- keep it pertinent to the case
4. Defending the differentials : Justify what’s more likely and what’s unlikely for given age, gender, clinical profile and radiological features.
5. Discussion Q&A – Every case has a predictable set of examiner questions.
